What is Yumeda?
It's my first, published, full-length novella!
Plot summary?
The story follows three teenagers who live in an age of interstellar travel. One of them, Aicha, leaves Earth to go to a planet on the other side of the galaxy, Kaimer, where she meets the other two main characters.
Creation process?
Even though it is only about 150 pages, a lot of work went into Yumeda. My friend and I developed a language (complete with two distinct dialects) for the planet that acts as the main setting, as well as a detailed and distinct culture for the people who live there. Writing the first draft took me about 1.5-2 years. The characters themselves went through several extreme changes during the editing phases after that, which took another half year or so. I had to rewrite a large portion of the novel!
What's next?
I'm currently working on several mini-additions to the world of Yumeda to flesh out the culture of Kaimer for my readers. Alongside that, I am co-authoring a full-length novella that is also set in the world of Yumeda, but takes place mostly in the Earth solar system.
